Melbourne, Australia — The Australian Nepalese Multicultural Centre (ANMC) has secured funding from the Australian Federal Government through the Stronger Communities Programme. The funding will support a major upgrade to ANMC’s facilities, including the installation of new audio-visual and ICT equipment, a modern multimedia room, and enhanced digital resources. The project also includes improvements to the Centre’s electrical systems, as well as the purchase of a defibrillator and first-aid equipment.
ANMC plans to use the funding to establish an interactive website, which will become a key resource for local services, community events, and educational opportunities. The website will feature multilingual content to assist newly arrived immigrants and support digital literacy efforts. The multimedia room will offer tools for cultural exchange, online connectivity, language training, and digital literacy programs, aimed at supporting local families, students, and community groups.
“This funding will allow ANMC to become an even more inclusive and accessible space for our community,” said ANMC President Dr. Tilak Pokharel. “With these upgrades, we will be able to serve a wider range of people, including newly arrived immigrants, people with disabilities, and others who can benefit from our educational and cultural programs.”
The new technology and resources will also help ANMC support virtual conferences, workshops, and educational programs for community members. The addition of first-aid and disability access features will ensure a safer and more welcoming environment for all.
Sam Rae, MP for Hawke, expressed his support for the project, noting its importance for the region’s multicultural community. “This is a significant investment in the future of ANMC and its role in fostering inclusivity, education, and connection for all members of the community,” he said.
The project is expected to strengthen ANMC’s role as a central hub for multicultural engagement in the Hawke electorate.
