NAV’s Baal Diwas Program Promises a Day of Cultural Enrichment for Nepali Children in Victoria
Melbourne, — The Nepalese Association of Victoria (NAV) is all set to host a spirited celebration of Baal Diwas on October 15, 2023, dedicated to the Nepali children flourishing in the heart of Australia, Victoria.
The event, to be held at the iconic Epping Memorial Hall in Epping, promises a vibrant array of cultural activities, artistic expressions, children’s dance performances, and a captivating magician’s presentation. NAV Secretary and Event Coordinator, Mr. Alok Paudel, shared the exciting lineup designed to engage and inspire the young attendees. ‘LJ – Magician’ is well prepared to share his magic in the showdown.
NAV President, Mr. Prem Raj Upreti, expressed his anticipation, stating, “Baal Diwas is a cherished occasion for us. It is a day to celebrate the bright futures of our young community members and ensure they grow up immersed in the richness of our Nepali heritage.”
Guidestar Training Institute, a leading institution in education and community development, proudly stands as the event’s title sponsor. Ms. Shabnam Thapa, CEO of Guidestar Training Institute, emphasized the significance of preserving cultural connections, remarking, “We are privileged to support NAV in their mission to instill a strong sense of identity and cultural pride in Nepali children growing up in Victoria.”
The event will kick off promptly at 10 AM, offering families and children a delightful morning of cultural immersion, culminating at 1 PM. It serves as a testament to the enduring legacy of NAV, which was established in 1997 with the aim of promoting Nepali culture in Victoria, Australia. All together 10 Baal Schools will participate in the event among them 8 are run by NAV itself.
Presently, NAV operates eight Baal Schools across Melbourne, dedicated to imparting invaluable lessons in Nepali culture to the younger generation. These schools play a pivotal role in ensuring that Nepali heritage continues to thrive in the hearts of Nepali children living in Australia.
NAV Secretary and Event Coordinator, Mr. Alok Paudel, expressed his excitement about the event, saying, “We’ve curated an exciting lineup of activities for Baal Diwas, aiming to engage and inspire our young attendees. It’s a day for them to not only have fun, but also connect with their roots.”
Mr. Paudel further added, “Seeing the smiles on the faces of the children as they participate in the cultural activities is truly heartwarming. It’s a testament to the importance of events like Baal Diwas in our community.”
NAV’s school Principal and Vice President, Mr. Krishna Chalise, expressed his deep gratitude for the overwhelming support and participation from various schools. He emphasized that this sentiments reflect the strength and unity of the community in safeguarding the Nepali cultural heritage.
Treasurer Yakindra Timilsina reported a noteworthy achievement, emphasizing that despite the absence of government grants, the event is on track thanks to the invaluable contributions of community businesses. This collaborative endeavor underscores the collective determination to ensure the success of Baal Diwas, a tradition proudly upheld by NAV since its inception in 2005.
